O’Pazzo is a true Italian family restaurant. Italians hosting, cooking, serving, eating and waving white napkins like they’re actually in mediterranean Napoli. When you set foot in O’Pazzo’s first establishment you’ll have an experience like no other. It’s a crazy mix of classy bistro interior and a theme park-like kitchen. Quirky, authentic and very popular. O’Pazzo was determined to create a second restaurant with the same successful formula.
Modernizing a winning formula
The second restaurant’s spot was always going to be a challenge. Restaurants that have gone before, weren’t popular enough to make it. But we figured the O’Pazzo formula was going to overcome all that. It just needed a change in its visual presence. A switch to O’Pazzo’s quirkiness and authenticity that hits you while entering its establishment. At the same time it needed a modern twist making it last another 25 years.
A thoughtful blend of cultural nuances
O’Pazzo’s new venue, the contemporary —All day Italian— trattoria pays homage to its first establishment, an authentic culinary landmark in Rotterdam since 1999. A thoughtful blend of cultural nuances bridging Rotterdam and Napoli. Rooted in the timeless charm of Southern Italian aesthetics, the new identity caters to rather contemporary restaurant concepts while sustaining a dash of Napolitan humor, quirkiness and nonchalance. The southern Italian graphic style serves as a foundation, symbolizing the trattoria’s long standing tradition, while subtle nods to Rotterdam’s vibrant cultural scene and Naples’ lively spirit, infuse a fresh and relevant perspective.
A curse has been lifted
Although the location seemed to be cursed, the O’Pazzo formula turned it around. The strong brand with its Napolitan-Rotterdam vibe and the new visual identity resonates with the guests. Regulars and tourists. During its first year they’ve managed to sell a whopping 60.000 pizzas.
‘The collaboration was a pleasant experience from start to finish. During a number of strategic sessions we’ve determined a clear and inspiring direction. The thing I appreciate the most, is Contaínr Affaìrs ability to translate our input and ideas to a visual identity — logo, illustrations and brandbook that seamlessly fits our new vision, mission and ambitions.’
